Bike handling skills are an often overlooked component of your cycling prowess. For off-road riders bike handling is a fundamental skill that can turn fear into fun and in competition a good bike handler has an extra advantage over riders of similar fitness.
Glasgow United Cycling Club rider Steve Couper has over 25 years cycling experience having won Scottish race series’ on and off-road. He is offering bike skill sessions for MTB'ers and CX'ers, they will be easy paced rides with instruction tailored to your specific requirements. They will focus on improving your off-road riding technique, racing tips and strategies if required and provide you with feedback in order to get maximum speed from your available fitness in a safe, smooth and controlled manner. For less experienced riders a session will help fast track your skill development to prevent future accidents on the trails.
Sessions are priced at £25 per rider for around 2 hours, that's almost the same hourly price as a CX and cheaper than 1 adult category MTB XC race. They can be held at your choice of venues below or more locally to you. For an appointment email [email protected]
Suggested venuesor your local rides** Glasgow: Rouken Glen Park, Cathkin Braes, Strathclyde Country Park, Dawsholm Park. Paisley: Glennifer Braes Irvine: Beach Park. Fife: Lochore Meadows. Bo’ness: D.I.A.T.D course
**(Subject to suitability of venue. In general if you ride there regularly and it’s not extremely technical/muddy then it should be fine. An open area with a grass or gravel surface is preferred; single-track is ok as long as riders are visible at all times).
WHEN: Like almost all of you, unfortunately I have a day job ☹️ My rota dictates that I work every Saturday, however, I have almost every Sunday and various weekdays off. I'll fit in sessions to suit you but if it's a Saturday and occasionally for weekdays I might have to ask the boss for a day off which I need to give 1 months notice for. Just email me then we can agree a date that suits us both.
Most Sundays: Your best bet, I'll almost certainly be available.
WeekdaysandSaturdays: "Might" require 1month notice for arrangements to be made.
